Amazon to Host First eSports Tournament for Casual Mobile Games in Las Vegas

The Champions of Fire Invitational

Casual mobile games and eSports rarely go into the same sentence. But it looks like Amazon Appstore is going to change that, by hosting its first eSports tournament in Las Vegas called “The Champions of Fire Invitation” on December 2nd. The tournament has invited top game influencers and celebrities to take part with a grand prize of $100,000. The first place winner will take home $30,000 – not a bad chunk of change.

The casual games listed including Disney Crossy Road, Bloons TD Battles, Pac-Man, 8Ball Pool, and Fruit Ninja Tournament Edition. Those that are interested in watching the event live can visit Amazon’s Twitch (www.twitch.tv/amazonappstore) from 2pm-9pm PT.

It’ll be interesting to see how this evolves, as there are plenty of games available with a competitive nature. And with bigger prize pools and interesting participants, there does seem to be a push towards competitive mobile gaming.
